[On the morning of Ennea 25, there is a rather heavy box delivered to Ema's residence. The box itself is wrapped in a pink paper to match the tint of her glasses with a white bow to top it off. There's a note for her as well.]
Ema,
I couldn't find many but I hope that these prove to be useful for you here. Maybe it'll make you feel more at home with these on your bookshelf :) Merry Christmas!
- Maya
PS: I tried with the snackoos. I don't know if I got them right???
[There is a set of three forensics books wrapped and tied together with a ribbon. Sitting above them in a vacuum-sealed bag is a bunch of homemade (actually, she tried to make them in the bakery) attempts at replicating snackoos. Hopefully they turned out alright? If not, she's sorry!!!
[The delight on Ema's face could not be possibly described in words as she takes in the contents of the box along with its accompanying letter. Of course, she excitedly opens the bag and takes a bite out of Maya's homemade Snackoos.
And smiles.
It's not exactly the same, but it's definitely close enough! That said, she writes back a letter as she munches on the Snackoos. There may or may not be some telltale stains on the paper as a result of that.]
Ms. Fey,
Thank you for the gift. I don't have much to offer in return, but if ever you're in need of my skills as a forensic scientist, please do not hesitate to call on me!
- Ema Skye
P.S. The Snackoos are great! Could you give me the recipe for it, perhaps?
[There's a present posted through Ema's door on Christmas day, wrapped in silver and gold paper. When she unwraps it, it's a leather-bound notebook (Nahyuta is, thankfully, aware that other stationery exists aside from scrolls). But it's not blank: written inside is an entire recipe book of things Nahyuta remembers how to make from Khura'in, even annotated with some Khura'inese words and phrases so she can pick up some vocabulary.
... Although it's a recipe book with a twist. As she goes on, she'll find some pages appear to be entirely or partially blank, as they were written with invisible ink, some of them are blurred and slightly illegible due to staining, and some of the text seems to have been erased, although the imprints are still left on the paper. Some pages have even been torn and mixed in with other pages. Tucked between the middle pages is a note.]
Dear Detective Skye,
I hope you enjoy learning about Khura'inese cuisine as much as you will enjoy reconstructing this book with those forensic skills of yours.
Though I do not celebrate Christmas myself, I pray the Holy Mother will smile upon you with her blessings throughout the holidays.
With warm regards,
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi Prince Regent and Chief Prosecutor of Khura'in
[Ema's glance at the book is inquisitive at first, and then skeptical as she raises a brow at the torn and vandalized pages when she flips through it quickly.
The note, however, sheds some light into what it is about, and somehow she's torn between the urge to laugh and facepalm at the whole thing. Nahyuta really did keep to his word, and he must have been up all night making this.
Setting the notebook on the table, she takes out some simple stationery and begins to write back, a small smile forming on her face as she does so.]
Dear Prosecutor Sahdmadhi,
Thank you for your very thoughtful gift. I will be sure to take my time in enjoying it. That said, I haven't forgotten about my promise to let you taste my cooking, so I will get in touch with you on a later date about it once I have reconstructed the book to the best of my abilities.
That said, I don't have much to offer in return, but do know my forensic investigation skills are always available for you to use should they be needed.
[There's a box at Ema's doorstep. On the outside is a note.
"I know a chemist who's been pretty good at recreating things from home, so hopefully this will work for you. Have a happy holiday!
From your Secret Santa."
Inside is a small container of fingerprint powder, along with directions to the chemist shop he typically uses for medicines. (Although Jude doesn't realize how quickly she might end up needing to visit them.)]
[Ema's expression simply couldn't contain her joy as she sparkles and glows and all the works at the package that arrives for her.
They really did have it. THEY REALLY DID HAVE IT AFTER ALL.
She hastens to get some paper to write, never mind that she doesn't know who the sender is. Maybe the messenger birds could figure something out once they send this letter.]
Dear Secret Santa,
Thank you so much for this gift. This is more than anything I could ask for, and it should make my stay here in Empatheias a lot more enjoyable than it already is!
Needless to say, I will treasure this wonderful present you've given me. Should you be in need of my forensic investigation skills, please do not hesitate to call on me. Happy Holidays!
Kind regards,
Detective Ema Skye, Forensic Investigator
P.S. That said, may I know who you are? I'd like to thank you in person for this gift, if I can.
[It's a beaded bracelet that Ema gratefully dons before she messages Rayfa over the Network, with an image of her smiling widely as she wears the said item.]
Your Benevolence,
Thank you for this present. I will treasure it.
Should you be in need of my forensic investigation skills, please know that I'm merely a call away.

25 december, messenger bird.
Detective,
I am aware that you celebrate Christmas, so here is a present. You need not give me one in return as Khura'inese people do not have such a tradition.
Truly yours,
Rayfa Padma Khura'in
